Miss Mary’s Summer Reading Grab & Go Activity Kits Grab are no longer available. You can still create along with us even if you didn’t get a bag. Most projects just require materials you may have at home. Do you have paper, markers, some glue or tape? Let’s make art! Tune in to facebook or our YouTube channel to watch demonstrations each week beginning July 6. We invite you to submit your favorites, either electronically or physically, to our End of Summer Art Show, to be held at the library the week of August 31. Keep that in mind, and we will give you more details later.
What the bag contains: 1 black brush marker; 2, 2-color markers; Large and small paper plates; Assorted yarn; Book pages; Music pages; Thicker paper; light-sensitive paper, and sidewalk chalk. You may need: scissors, adhesive of some kind (tape, glue, or both), camera if you have one, and paper towel tubes.
You may use these materials however you like. Each week you will find a video with suggestions for a project using the materials on the library’s Facebook posts or YouTube channel. You can also call Miss Mary at the library if you have questions.
Week 1- July 5 – 11 PHOTOGRAPHY Photography, including the light-sensitive paper. Use the sun and/or your camera to create some art. This program is led by Artist Educator, Ms. Strathearn and sponsored by the Arts Council for Wyoming County. Week 2- July 12-18 SIDEWALK ART Create with chalk on the sidewalk or driveway. Miss Mary, Oliver, and Ms. Gayford share some ways to have fun with sidewalk chalk, from portraits to obstacle courses! Share your creations with us, and if you are out walking the weekend of 7/17, try the sidewalk art obstacle course on the library’s sidewalk! Didn’t get an activity bag? ARTSMART GLASS FUSION STARS KIT
Jill Rossborough from ArtSmart Studio will pack everything you need to create your own fused glass stars. Reserve yours the week of 7/13 for pick-up the week of 7/20. Projects must be returned to the library by 8/3 for fusing. You will be notified when the completed project is ready for pick-up. While Supplies Last.
