Providing library materials to Warsaw residents who are homebound
Bringing the library to you: A service of the Friends of the Warsaw Public Library
Material selection ● Delivery ● Pickup
Warsaw residents may request home services if they are unable to visit the library due to advanced age, temporary or permanent illness or disability, and have no one who can visit the library on their behalf. Friend’s volunteers will arrange initial visits or telephone calls with patrons to discuss reading, and listening interests, and issue the patron a card if they are not yet a cardholder. Based on this conversation, Friends volunteers will select materials and schedule delivery and pickup times with patrons. The decision to extend home services to a patron may be influenced by available volunteer resources.
Homebound service patrons may borrow print books, audio-books, and magazines for a period of 21 days with 2 renewals allowed, unless material is on hold for another patron.
Home service patrons do not accrue overdue fines but are responsible for lost or damaged materials, and will be required to pay for the cost of the lost or damaged material should this occur.
Library staff may be contacted at 786-5650 to renew materials for additional days from the original due date. Before your first delivery, a volunteer will contact you and schedule a home or phone interview. This is your opportunity to share your favorite subjects, genres, authors, and interests.
Forms are available at the library, or you may contact staff at 786-5650 who will forward your information to the Homebound volunteers.
If a volunteer is unavailable, staff will refer you to Books By Mail, a service of the OWWL Library System, free of charge to you! To learn more about this program, click here, https://owwl.org/BooksByMail
