2025 Summer Reading Program: Color Our World Bookopoly Challenge for all ages begins Monday, 6/16! This summer, PASS GO…To the library and pick up your game board to win! Read books and complete challenges between June 16 – August 9. Complete as many challenges as you wish, in any order. Last day to earn prize drawings is August 9th. Prizes will be drawn August 11.

Creative Writing Multi-Day Workshop with published author, Luke Daly Published author and RIT Professor, Luke Daly returns, beginning June, 17th to build upon last year’s threshold concept workshops. Welcoming returning & new participants, teens & adults. This multi-day program builds on each workshop. Please register for all the days you are able to attend.
Day 1: 6/17: 1-5 All Text Is Multimodal, Part 1.- Participants will explore model texts that privilege and recombine aural, visual, gestural, and spatial modes of meaning-making in powerful ways. Then we will make our own multimodal texts and start a project to create an “illuminated object” poem.
Day 2: 6/18: 2-6 All Text Is Multimodal, Part 2.– Participants will explore model texts that privilege and recombine aural, visual, gestural, and spatial modes of meaning-making in powerful ways. Then we will make our own multimodal texts and start a project to create an “illuminated object” poem.
Day 3: 6/19: 2-6 Writing Is a Technology for Improving One’s Thinking– We will learn about and practice reflective protocol journaling. Then we will create a lyrical poem/memoir/essay and go through a series of rearrangements and remixes of our work and each other’s work.
Day 4: 6/20: 1-5 Writing Is a Social Activity- We will start new poems and journal entries using lines from other texts. Then we will practice responsive public reading and collaborative writing.
Day 5: 6/30: 5 Public Performance– Join us to celebrate the culmination of our 4-day Creative Writing Workshop with Luke Daly and students! Participants will present a public reading and illuminated poem presentation! Everyone is welcome! Registration is appreciated, but not required.

Saturday, June 21st at 11 AM: Group Art Games with Artist-Educator, Ms. Strathearn Gather your friends and family and bond with art! Join us for a morning of using art to help build teamwork! Discuss and create collaborative artworks in a lighthearted, humorous fashion. No prior art experience necessary. Most suitable for older children, teens, and adults. Registration required, beginning June 9, 2025 at 10 am.

Saturday, June 28th at 11 AM: Mine-crafting with Fused Beads Make a Minecraft item with fused beads. Pick a provided template or create your own! Staff will iron your creation to take home. Registration is required, beginning 6/1. For children 6 and up.
Wednesday, July 2nd at 1 PM: Basic Embroidery for tweens/teens with Artist-Educator, Ms. Strathearn Embroidery is like drawing with a needle and a thread! Come join Ms. Strathearn and learn the basics of this fun process! Materials will be provided, but if you would like to embroider on a piece of your own fabric or clothing, bring what you would like to embroider on. No prior skills needed. this program is for older children and teens, entering 5th grade and older. Registration is required beginning 6/9/2025 at 10 am. Space is limited.
Thursday, July 10th and 24th between 2-5 PM: Color Our World Calm! A quiet coloring program for all ages. Relax and unwind this summer with quiet coloring! This event for all ages is being offered twice. Come to one session, or both…stay as little or as long as you like! Drop in anytime between 2 and 5. No registration required. Join us for a relaxing and creative experience as we color our world calm!

Thursdays, July 17th and August 7th at 2 PM: Community Sketching for Teens & Adults with Artist educators, Samantha Strathearn & Norm Gayford Community sketching is creating loose and quick drawings in real time of places and moments, often in the company of other artists. Join artist educators Samantha Strathearn and local artist Norm Gayford in learning to capture the world and preserve memories through sketching. Participants will learn how to make a basic sketchbook and practice various sketching techniques. No prior art knowledge necessary. This program is for teens and adults, and will meet twice. The first session is scheduled Thursday, 7/17 at 2, & the second session is Thursday, 8/7 at 2:00. The last session will be a celebration of sharing our sketches! Registration is required. In the first session, we will be taking an “art walk” through the community. Walking shoes and weather appropriate attire are advised. Registration begins Monday, 6/9 at 10 am.
Saturday, July 19th at 10:30 AM: Team Puzzle Competition Each team will get the same 500-piece jigsaw puzzle. Compete to see who can complete the most before time runs out! The fastest team will win a gift certificate to Yummies Ice Cream! Registration is required. Teams of up to 6 people are allowed. Please only have 1 contact person register per team. Maximum of 5 teams. Teams will be given 2 hours to compete. The first team to finish before time runs out wins! If no teams complete the puzzle in time, whichever team has the fewest pieces left wins!
Saturday, July 26th at 11 AM Teen Book Discussion: Sunrise on the Reaping: A Hunger Games Novel by Suzanne Collins. Teens can join us to discuss Suzanne Collins newest entry in the Hunger Games saga: Sunrise on the Reaping. Registration appreciated, but not required. Available in physical and digital formats.
